Dr. Angie Williams-McMichael is an inclusive leader that facilitates team and organizational growth, through strategic collaboration, communication and community building. She is a National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional and the founding Dean of the Office of Multicultural Affairs & Diversity at UOPX where she served from 2015 - 2018 before relocating to the Piedmont Triad. Dr. A, as she is affectionately called, is a proud member of the Eta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. where she serves as the lead graduate advisor for the Sigma Mu chapter at High Point University. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff at The College Preparatory and Leadership Academy (The Point) where she directly assists the Superintendent as a senior, strategic partner in providing leadership and oversight to The Point’s day to day functions, faculty and staff.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a lover of the performing arts. Dr. A. spent 14 years in Arizona working in corporate education, digital learning and the health sciences field. Dr. Williams-McMichael has served in the educational arena for over 20 years. She earned her doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Argosy University, her M.Ed. with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University, and a BA in English with dual concentrations in Cultural Anthropology and African American Studies from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
She has worked for the Department of Justice in the Educational Opportunities Section in Washington D.C., and in the K-12 arena as a lead instructor, and won Teacher of the Year during her time there. Dr. Williams-McMichael has also developed digital courseware and worked in educational logistics and compliance across many states. She has conducted specific research on non-traditional student success, persistence, and student satisfaction, and a contributing member of the Arizona Minority Education Policy Analysis Center (AMEPAC) Progress Report 2016 & 2018 She continues to explore research interests in minorities in higher education, systemic issues in underserved populations, diverse student needs in higher education, P-12 and developing solutions for generational success.
Dr. Williams-McMichael is a 2018 honoree of the Role Model Administrator Award from Minority Access Inc., and 2017 recipient of the Diversity Leadership Alliance Inclusive Leader Award. Additionally, while serving as the first African American Dean of Students at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (SCNM) - the 2014 recipient of the Business Excellence Award from the Tempe Chamber of Commerce she was the recipient of the Student Government Association Administration Award. Dr. Williams-McMichael is a leader in the community and served diligently as a member of the Phoenix Martin Luther King Jr. Day Talent Committee and the MLK Service Project leader for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. for 8 years, having been recognized by Points of Light, the world's leading volunteer service organization. She is a former representative on the Arizona Chapter of the National Panhellenic Council. And in 2014, she was selected for the Phoenix Business Journal's 40 Under 40 - Class of 2014, which recognizes up-and-coming leaders in the community. Her and her husband were the first husband and wife team to be honored in a class.
Dr. Williams-McMichael is the co-founder of several outreach organizations in AZ and is gifted in developing partnerships that facilitate advanced community outreach. She is an educational champion and one that advocates for educational equality and access. She currently spends her spare time involved with youth enrichment, tutoring, and mentoring programs designed to motivate, engage and assist students in reaching their maximum potential through academic enrichment, STEM, life skills training, and support for their journey to college or vocational employment.
Above her education, leadership and accolades, she loved the Lord. And her greatest joy is being the proud wife of published author and leader Pastor Lovelle McMichael Sr. and “Best Boy Mom” of two amazing young men Lovelle Jr. and Logan.
